...Spin the Wheel...

Jeans & Shoes - Peacocks, Scarf - Zara, Bag - TU (Sainsbury), Coat - Charity shop

After two days of feeling sorry for myself and with my cough feeling much better, James and I headed out to Ford airfield in search of a car-boot sale. Has been a while since we had a rummage through someone else's junk, and we wanted to see what treasures we could find.

Oh, what treasures we found. James managed to bag a whole load of vintage console games, which he could definitely make a few quid on, on Ebay. Not bad, eh? I found a wonderful biography on Florence Nightingale from the '50s that I cannot wait to get stuck into. We also snagged a retro version of Monopoly. I'm not sure if this is too tragic or not, but it's our first ever board game. Am hoping to add more to the very small collection.

The weather behaved and kept its sun hat on, which made me smile greatly. I did not have to pile on the layers and sweat away my entire weight, ha! I wore my new jeans, which I posted about here, and my now favourite scarf. It's too perfect. I feel like I'm wearing a cushion round my neck. It's just wonderful. Speaking of that previous post, I've managed to find a great black bag, those floral jeans, and the River Island shoes (although they are gold sequin rather than metallic mink).

All in all Saturday was a pretty good day for me. I'm feeling refreshed and vitalised and ready to begin my week at work. Hate having time off, but sometimes you need to rest your body in order to perform your best...

...Jeez, It's Cold...

Hat, Shirt & Jeans - HM, Scarf & Jumper - Zara, Shoes - Office

It is unbelievably, bitingly cold out there at the moment, which is making me very sad. My fingers hurt, my toes are constantly numb, even with nice, thick socks and my skin is feeling the harsh effects of this years winter.

But less of my shivering moans and more on what's been going on lately. I have a viral cough, that is very annoying, especially at night. I had some delicious cupcakes to celebrate my friends birthday and bought the most amazing, snuggly scarf from Zara. It fits round my neck like a soft cushion keeping my face and ears warm from the severe coastal winds. I put it on as soon as a I bought it today. Perfect accessory.

I wore, as my friend described - a 'Stepford' wife kind of oufit. I think it was preppy, or more clean cut than I would usually wear, and maybe with the pearls, there was a small element of '50s housewife being channelled. Like I said, I like to make the effort to get dressed up when the occasion arises.

As I have been feeling pretty rough this week (I had to take an unfortunate sick day yesterday - hate doing that), I did a little retail therapy (hello gorgeous Kurt Geiger shoes for only a tenner) and cooked myself a yummy vegetable pasta dish. Lots of healthy greens and a not so healthy glass of Chenin Blanc, soon to be accompanied by some even naughtier chocolate. Oh well, life is meant to be enjoyed and you know what...I workout during the week and eat a pretty balanced diet. So what's a few treats here and there, ha!

...Sunday Morning Sweetness...

These past few Sundays have seen me indulge myself with a a little something extra for breakfast. With James working both Saturday and Sunday mornings, I find that I have a few hours all to myself where I can laze about.

I get up, lay the table and think about making something extra special for breakfast (mostly on Sundays). I find it relaxing and calming, and gives me the time to think about the coming week. I sit at the table looking out the window and indulge myself. Last week it was a poached egg and salmon on toast, and this week was even better - French toast with drizzled honey and blueberries. Mmmmmm perfection. It takes next to nothing in preparation and is one of the most delicious options I've ever chosen to make for breakfast. A simple recipe with scrumptious results. I have listed below ingredients if you wish to try making it. I'm sure most of you have and already know how easy it is. I got my recipe from 'The Little Paris Kitchen' cook book by Rachel Khoo.

Yesterday was no exception. I sat and ate my meal whilst watching the snow fall, all snuggled and warm in my PJ's watching 'Sex and The City'. To me, such a wonderful and easy way to spend a morning.

It's lovely to just take some time and pamper myself. From now on I've decided every Sunday morning will be my morning, my special morning and make something that's just for me.

...

Milk (250ml)
1 egg
1 table spoon of sugar (I used brown sugar) & 1 table spoon of butter to fry in the pan

Whisk up the eggs, milk and sugar, dip your bread in and then fry on both sides until golden brown. I squeezed some fresh lemon juice on mine, drizzled some honey and let the blueberries fall over the plate...et viola! French toast!

...Flashback of 2012...

Whilst I am no fashion blogger, looking back at some of my past posts I have found that posting my outfits here and there has been extremely enjoyable. There is still a long way to go in terms of how I present those images compared to the more professional fashion bloggers out there, and I am more than happy to leave them to it. They do a far better job. A lot of my outfits I never photograph, not that I don't want to. I either forget or cannot be bothered.

Flicking through my blog feed over the past few days, I have seen numerous 2012 summary posts and decided to jump on the bandwagon. It has been lovely seeing what everyone has done/achieved/worn. The outfits I've chosen are some of my favourite ones, and most of them are during the Spring/Summer seasons. Clearly I am thinking ahead to the warmer months. Cannot wait to get these outfits out again.

My style has not changed month over the past year, the one thing I would say though is that I don't dress up much as I used too. This is partly due to my line of work (Childcare) and that when I do have some free time, I spend it mostly in my lounge wear, relaxing. When I worked in London, I definitely wore a more varied wardrobe and I'm not going to lie, I do miss that. However, now when I do have the chance to plan an outfit, I try to make it special and really think about the way I want to look.

So who knows maybe 2013 is the year I begin to divulge more of my style...

...Let it Snow, Let it Snow...

Jumper - H&M, Boots - CAT, Shirt & Necklace - Primark, Ski Jacket - PULL&BEAR (a few years old now)

I know, it's a bit late to cite Christmas songs in post title, ha! But...it has been snowing of late, and unfortunately all the snow has near enough disappeared in Worthing. Boo! I was quite convinced it was here to stay. Although James is not a fan of playing in the snow; I think he is fairly happy that it is disappearing. Let's hope more comes and he is forced to enjoy it?! Hehe!

Yesterday I spent the most of the day making my way to Brighton for a course and then had them most horrendous journey back. I did not understand it. The roads were clear and yet the traffic was moving at a snails pace. I mean truly it was slow, and took me over an hour and a half to get home. This made made me weep as I knew I would never make it back to Brighton for my friends birthday drinks.  I wrapped up warm with my trusty CAT boots (faux furr lined) and my new jumper. I was definitely toasty. On the rare occasion that I got to wear some fancier clothes, I blinged them up with my favourite statement necklace and a few bangles. Cannot really wear jewellery to work as the children can pull on it, so it was a lovely treat.

How did you all stay warm yesterday?

...Lazy Bones...

Feast your eyes upon another post dedicated entirely to food... Today has been a tough day. Have really felt stretched, not in terms of my work, as I am loving it but with regards to how my body is feeling. My chest is definitely not how it should be and feels knotted constantly with a crushing pain, and my body aches all over from being pushed physically when working. So, yes today has been tiring.

When I got in the last thing I wanted to do was cook. I did a brief work-out with Davina McCall's new fitness app (which is amazing by the way), and then have been slobbing in my PJ's. For dinner, I cooked a really simple meal that required next to nothing in effort but is so comforting and delicious - bacon and scrambled eggs with a sprinkling of parsley.

Do you ever have those days, where you get home and you just deflate and feel completely zonked? It has been rather lovely not doing anything except zoning out in front of the TV. I have found yoga to be very relaxing. I find it helps expand my chest and ease some of the pressure. Although nothing except some frequent use of my inhalers is working at the moment...

...My Spring/Summer Cravings...

With talk of snow on the horizon, I can’t help but think about the warmer months and have started looking forward to being able to wear lighter, sheerer and brighter fabrics. Spring and Summer are wonderful months and I find dressing/planning outfits much easier, as you have less layers to worry about. I love being about to just throw on some clothes and be out the door, on the beach making the most of the sun and sea breeze.

I have begun to put together another list of cravings that I’m hoping will see me through the warmer months and into the Autumnal chills, as part of the Next Guest blogger competition. Simple, delicate flats; floral scents; loose fitting tops are all items I look for when planning my outfits. My finds for the coming season have come from the new Next SS13 collection. There are plenty of options laid out for you to choose from, and I could not help but be drawn to the floral patterns and floaty tops. Staying true to what I said in an earlier post about only purchasing things I need, I have picked out some key items that I can see myself wearing again and again throughout the season. Such as this gorgeous, baby pink, cotton top and mink coloured flats that would go perfect alongside a pair chinos or these khaki trousers.  The big bonus points come from the fact that I know I will get wear out these items during the colder months too, which means my wardrobe will be more versatile. This is exactly what I want out of my clothing. If I love an item, it does not matter what season I wear it in. For me it is about making the most of what you've got and love.

Alongside the pieces of clothing I've added, what I think is the perfect Spring/Summer scent, Daisy (Marc Jacobs). I have yet to get my hands on this beauty but I just adore the smell and deliciousness of this fragrance. Definitely on my wish-list. And finally, having the beach right on my doorstep means I try and make the most out of the sea, and am always on the look out for swimwear that I can add to my collection. Being of a bustier size, I find it hard to acquire attractive bikinis or swimsuits. Over on Next there is a large variety of options for the bigger bust (with under-wire support), and I loved the simple pattern and shape of the one featured above. Not too plain and boring, which is the case when shopping for bigger sizes. Sometimes when you don't want to flaunt the tum, covering up with a cute swimsuit is definitely the way to go.

So, there you have it. A small summary of the things I'm lusting over for the coming months, and it would be great to know what you guys are craving for...

...Cupcake Heaven...

Treating yourself to a little delight is always thrilling, especially when you know how delicious those delights are. For me, a pretty little cupcake is the way I treat myself, and there is no better place than Angel Bakery in the south lanes in Brighton. A wonderful bakery that is home to some of the most perfect cupcakes I have ever tried; no exaggerating here, they are divine.

On Saturday, that's just where my friends and I headed. The smell of baking fills the cafe and the array of cupcakes to choose from is mouthwatering. I usually opt for the chocolate variety but decided on something a little lighter such as the lemon meringue  cupcake. It was heaven. You took a bite and out oozed lemon curd and mixed with the frothy butter cream icing, is just sublime. My friend went for the traditional red velvet, which is always delicious.

This time on our visit I had my camera with me and I knew I wanted to dedicate a post to this place, as I feel it deserves a little appreciation. These cupcakes are very rich and you definitely would not want more than one in a single sitting, but it sure does leave you wanting to come back again and again and again. The perfect place to sit with your friends for a chat. Kitsch furniture, with a small and intimate atmosphere. Of course you can choose to have a slice of carrot cake or a delicious piece of chocolate cake, but really it's all about the cupcakes at this place...It really is a gem hidden in the streets of Brighton...

...A Typical Sunday...

Jumper & Jeans - H&M

Sunday for me is a day to relax, catch up on some much needed chores and having a nice big hearty meal. Today was no exception. I started my day with a brief workout, which definitely put me in a good frame of mind and gave me lots of energy to burn. Made myself the most delicious breakfast ever. So by the early afternoon, I had done all I needed to do. Brilliant. I spent the rest of the afternoon reading my some long over due magazines, whilst sipping on hot water and lemon.

I did my washing, tidied and began the process of cooking a wonderful casserole in my Crock Pot (thanks Mum). I now love slow cookers. They are amazing. Keep your meat tender and moist, and soak up all the flavour leaving some yummy food to devour. A casserole I thought would be a good recipe to start off with, as it is a simple one to follow. I pan fried my chicken first then transferred it to my slow cooker. Basically you put all ingredients in together (cold), add your meat and allow to cook for the required amount of time. Obviously when you first use one, refer to the instruction manual as all cookers are different. But they are so easy to use, and it is pretty handy when you have other things to get on with.

Not a bad way to spend a lazy Sunday. To keep myself cosy, I wore my new jumper. Lovely soft fabric and such a beautiful colour. I like the use of silver flecks that make it a bit more interesting than some other jumpers I've seen.

How do you all like to spend your Sundays?

...Lunch With The Girls...

Jeans - New Look, Top - H&M, Cardigan - Bhs, Hat - Charity shop

Today was a good day, apart from the constant down pour of rain. I spent the day catching up with my girlfriends, eating and having cocktails. Perfect girls day out. We spent most of the afternoon hanging out over a long lunch and a much needed glass of Chenin Blanc. Sometimes a good giggle with your girlfriends is the best stress reliever and mood elevator. After lunch, we mooched on over to my favourite cupcake shop ever in Brighton. I have a post lined up dedicated especially to this place, so stay tuned.

Unfortunately I was unable to take outfit pictures during the day, as the rain ceased to stop so I opted to take a few when I got in. I wore my trusty biker boots, new lace top and chunky knit. Very simple but with enough detail to make it interesting. As I was meeting friends I wanted to make an effort, seeing as I do not really get to wear fancy clothes for my job. Any chance to wear some of my more nicer items, I jump at.

I have very much enjoyed posting more regularly these past few days, and also have enjoyed expanding the range of my posts. I do hope this continues...
